From a Mommy so young, tired, and worn
A few brief moments she held her daughter close
Now understanding a mothers love at most
The baby, so fragile, was carried off quickly
To the nursery while Mommy laid still feeling sickly
Nurses begged her to gain sleep and much rest
While the baby girl lay in the nursery at her best
Mommy wide awake wondered about the baby
If she pretended to sleep she could see her maybe
When finally united, it was joyful tears
To only imagine the next 18 growing years
At one year old, not yet ready to walk
She slid on the floor, giggling at her own baby talk
This Sunshine filled beautiful little girl
Took everyone away from their own crazy world
Her eyes a bright blue that matched the sky gleaming
Yet her Mommy knew that they show deeper meaning
Sissy arrived and Mommy feared her little one would be mad
Yet the little girl enjoyed being a big sister, she was glad
Mommy read the little girls books all day long
Big and little sister giggled at Mommy's silly songs
Cartoons in the background and toys covered the floor
At the end of the day Mommy's energy was poor
Still plenty of battles and stages to overcome
Much more to learn, school to start and be done
Homework, activities, report cards, and friends
Broken hearts, slammed doors, the worst part (boyfriends)
Mommy's hair, by then, will most likely be gray
But thank goodness for now, Mommy's little girl is 5 today!
